THE LAKEWOOD WATER AND WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL PROJECT IN DISTRICT 11 IS COMPLETE.
The large-scale project, which began in January 2014, modernizes water and wastewater systems throughout residential and commercial areas in District 11.
“We are truly appreciative of the patience and cooperation of Lakewood area residents and businesses during a long construction period that sometimes presented challenges for the neighborhood,” said Scott Potter, P.E., Director of Metro Water Services. “With completion, Metro has improved the structural integrity of the water, wastewater and storm sewer systems for Lakewood property owners, residents and future generations.”
Beneficial improvements include:
Replacement and rehabilitation of sewer lines to eliminate groundwater infiltration into the sewer system,
Replacement of water mains to improve water flow to residences and for fire protection,
Construction of stormwater collection and conveyance structures to reduce localized flooding during heavy rain events, and
Rebuilding and resurfacing of impacted streets throughout the Lakewood community.
The on-site project office has been closed. It had been located in the former Lakewood City Hall. Residents who have a customer service need should contact Metro Water Services at (615) 862-4600.
