Brasfield & Gorrie has won two major construction industry awards for its work on the Dodson Chapel Pumping Station and Equalization Facility improvement project in Hermitage.
B&G, lead contractor for construction of an 11-million gallon wastewater storage facility, new wastewater pump station and other system upgrades, earned the first-place Obelisk Award by Associated Builders & Contractors in the Public Works and Environmental Division. Associated General Contractors presented B&G an excellence award in the New Municipal Utility category.
AGC noted B&G's ability to build the job while continuing existing wastewater operations, use of environmentally friendly construction approaches, including an on-site rock crusher to turn stone into pipe bedding and backfill and using chipped trees cleared from the site for mulch for erosion control.
Dodson Chapel EQ, the first major construction project in the Clean Water Nashville OAP program, began in May 2012 and was completed ahead of schedule in April 2014. It was designed by Brown & Caldwell.
“This is a real team win for Clean Water Nashville,” said Glenn Bond, Brasfield & Gorrie senior project manager.” Awards like this are possible when you have a highly organized program and a real sense of partnership by all of the team members. The partnership led by MWS is what made this project so successful.”
