Mill Creek Trunk Improvements and Equalization Facility
This projcet is on hold as Metro re-evaluates additional options to address both sanitary sewer overflows and projected growth in the Mill Creek sewershed.
As previously scoped, this project consisted of the design and construction of approximately 13,800 linear feet of large diameter, wet weather gravity sewer primarily installed in tunnels; a 100 million gallons per day wet weather pumping station with associated building; 60 million gallons of additional storage associated piping to route flows to/from the project site, including 6,200 linear feet of secondary drain line to the Browns Creek Pump Station at 720 Visco Drive; attenuation of peak flows from the Omohundro Water Treatment Plant; and associated site improvements. Although the route of the conveyance improvements has not been determined yet, the increased conveyance capacity would address existing restrictions within the sewer system that result in overflows and would direct flow to the pump station and storage tanks. The peak wastewater flows are stored until the flows in the system recede, and the stored volume can be conveyed through the system to treatment.
